Baba Anand

Baba Anand was born in Srinagar, Kashmir in 1961, and studied fashion design at the National Institute of Fashion Design in Delhi. He was successful while working in the fashion industry, but decided to turn his career around and fully involve himself  in visual arts.

The impact of fashion, pop culture and Bollywood is entirely present in his work. He uses film posters, oleographies, and lithographs as mediums for his collages.  His strong use of color in paintings and installations directly connects to the popular Indian aesthetic.

The themes of his works move between Bollywood and mythological and religious icons, such as Krishna or other Hindu deities. His art is a mixture between the spiritual and the irreverent, and between the textures of noble materials and kitsch.

His work has been exhibited in cities and galleries around the world such as in Paris, London, Mumbai, and New York. He is one of the most respected and well-known artists from India.
