Keith Haring
Untitled (DV8), 1986

Nov 2013 - Dec 20113

Lio Malca is pleased to present a monumental work by Keith Haring in Lio Malca’s New York Gallery. This five-panel mural was originally installed above the bar at Club DV8 in San Francisco. Keith Haring met the club's owner in the mid 1980s, and was subsequently invited to produce a mural for the club in 1986. Numerous fundraising and social events took place in the space until the club closed in 1997. By this time, the vibrant club had defined the Bay Area nightlife for almost twelve years.

The piece has been exhibited internationally in Haring's major retrospectives, the most recent being The Political Line at The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in association with Le Centquatre. This wide-ranging show was the largest Haring exhibition to date, and explored the profound political content of his work. The mural was installed at Le Centquatre and was one of the 20 monumental works exhibited out of approximately 250 pieces on view.
